JIM’S STORY ABOUT TAVERN ON THE GREEN

In the 1980's I studied under the famed Lee Strasberg, and during one rehearsal I had a thrilling moment. The Maestro, not a man prone to praise fledgling actors, complimented my work in front of the entire class.

As a reward I took myself out for lunch to the iconic Tavern on the Green. As I enjoyed my lunch, I looked around the room and counted at least 11 foreign languages being spoken. The people at the other tables were full of energy, laughing as they toasted, sang and celebrated both special moments and the simple joy of being alive and in this special place.

I had the thought that if I were to float away from this spot on Earth and soar into space that Tavern on the Green would be a bright, sparkling place, radiating joy and light far into the darkness. It was at that moment that the seed of my future restaurant-owning aspiration was sown. I told myself that if I ever decided to leave acting I wanted to own this place, the most magical place on earth.

And here I am!
